To speed the game and set a goal for money - while keeping the game playable for 4-year-old children and giving a slight flavour of the original monopoly - we use the following house rules:

- All bricks start in the bank (players receive none at the beginning of the game)

- Instead of receiving 6 non-golden roofs each, players take a total a 12 non-golden roofs (same number of roofs per player); the remaining non-golden roofs are out of game. (Ex: in 3-player games, each player receives 4 roofs of his/her color, totalling 12 roofs)
(Each player still receives 1 golden roof and 6 dollars)

a- When you reach a space, you may build there and only if you have enough money .
b- Pick up so many bricks from the bank as the number indicated on the space where you will build. You must play all bricks at once, so the building must immediately be completed [as previously suggested by BoardsOfGames]
c- While you have non-golden roofs available, you must pay 1 dollar per brick you need to build. When the only available roof you have is the golden one, bricks are free.

- If you are demanded to pay a rent or penalty and you haven´t enough money, you must sell buildings to the bank (1 brick=1 dollar). In the case you are unable to realize the required amount of money, you are not obliged to pay more than you have.

- (Optional) Rents double when two buildings on spaces of the same color belongs to the same player.

- The "advanced" rule is compulsory (at the end of the game, each player receives 1 dollar per brick that comprises his/her buildings; the player with the highest amount of money wins)
