A little Essen Spiel 2012 picture diary...
Part the first...

Day 1 - the trip.
Left Aarhus with my 2 travel companions, Jesper and Cornelius, around 10 in the morning, and after around 8 hours of driving, with a few leg stretching breaks, arrived at Hotel Hasselkuss, in Heissingen, just south of Essen.
My, I'll try to keep it civil here, hindquarters and the outie parts of my procreational organs, as well as my back and legs have never ever been as sore... We scoured the local urban environment for dinner, had some schnitzel...

Day 2 - the first day of Spiel.
Breakfast at the hotel, then a 15 minute bus trip to Essen, standing in line for tickets, and at 10 o'clock the fare opened... The Essen Messe center is HUGE! Spent all the day walking around, getting an overview of the place... It was completely overwhelming, much, much bigger than I had imagined, with games and gamers everywhere...

First game bought was Shadows over Camelot, with 2 bonus cards, one of the only games I had planned in advance to buy.
I was very happy, and completely surprised to find Samurai Battles, from russian soldier/model makers and now game releasers Zvezda, who have teamed up with Richard Borg to FINALLY make a samurai themed c&c game. I was invited to play, but was already in "Shut up and take my money!" Mode...

Around noon I met up with Alex (40k) for a small, but very enjoyable meeting of Extraordinary Gentlemen! Wish you could all have been there with us. It was very nice to meet you and your friends Alex, hope everybody got what they wanted...

I also got a small freebie for Zooloretto Exotic, a chamelion.
Jesper and Cornelius with a Star wars snow speeder:
